Year 6

This week, our class explored natural selection by learning about Darwin’s finches. We carried out a hands-on experiment, using different ‘beaks’ – tweezers, spoons and pegs – to pick up various types of ‘food’, such as marshmallows and peas. The children used their results to draw conclusions, supported by scientific graphs, about how different beak shapes are better adapted for different foods. It was an interactive way to see evolution in action!
