Year 3

Another week filled with art and DT!

This week we swapped with 3B making structures and cladding, and 3C creating abstract sculptures.

In art, our objective was to know how artists can make decisions about how their work is displayed, considering their viewers and the impact on them. In groups, we made our large abstract sculptures inspired by playgrounds and the work of Anthony Caro.

In DT, our objectives for our structure session were to know that the frame is the main supporting structure and joints must be secure to prevent wobbling. We needed to know how to modify a frame if it is unstable. Then we needed to know that cladding is an outer covering attached to a frame and that cladding can add strength but also adds weight. Then we needed to know how to apply cladding without weakening the structure.

Great assembly

Well done to all the children for putting on a great educational assembly. We were very impressed with all the amazing effort the children put in to learn lines and both song!
