This week we continued to learn about the Jewish faith. We learnt about the importance of Shabbat and how families celebrate this. We also learnt about the festival of Hanukkah. This is a lunar festival that happens in November anbd December. Jews remember the story of the ‘miracle of the lamp’ and light candles on a menorah to remember how the oil burned for eight days.
We played the dreidel game – but used stones instead of traditional sweets!
Christmas was also in full swing this week – with parties, Christmas crafts and even some Christmas cooking.
We have had a great first term in Year 2 and are loooking forward to learning about the Titanic disaster when we return in January.
