Design Technology
This week in DT, we explored how different mechanisms work, with a particular focus on sliding mechanisms. We practised this skill by creating an up-and-down slider to make a rabbit pop out of a magician’s hat. After gathering our resources, we carefully followed step-by-step instructions to cut out and assemble each part. We also learnt how to punch two holes in paper and create a neat slit between them to help our slider to move smoothly.
Using our English story The Storm Whale as inspiration, we then designed and created our own moving storybooks. Our final products use both up-and-down, and side-to-side sliders to bring characters such as Noi and the whale to life through moving pictures.
