Year 1

This week has been Science Week and our focus has been observing changes within the weather. We learnt about how the weather changes throughout the seasons and we talked about the types of weather to expect in Autumn.

We made our own rain gauges and decided where to place these to help measure the amount of rainfall each day. We also checked the temperature daily using the thermometers outside our classrooms.

We continued our Science learning during our ‘Explore and Learn’ time where we used pipettes to help transfer water, as well as becoming mini ‘weather reporters’ to name and match the types of weather to the symbols that are used on a TV weather forecast.

One of our highlights of the week was having not one, but two special visitors in to see us!  Mrs Murray impressed us with a great demonstration of different science experiments. Then Dr Jones came in to tell us all about her job as a GP. We loved being able to take a look at all the equipment inside her doctor’s bag!
