Whole School

During our whole-school learning focus, “Ramadan: A Time to Grow,” pupils explored the meaning and importance of Ramadan through a range of age-appropriate lessons and activities. Children learned about how Ramadan is a time for prayer, reflection, charity and community for Muslims around the world, and discussed values such as kindness, self-discipline, gratitude and empathy. The event began with a whole-school assembly and was followed by classroom learning across all year groups, including creative projects, discussions and collaborative activities. Each class contributed work to our Religious Celebrations display, celebrating pupils’ understanding and respect for different faiths and cultures

Also this week…..

On Tuesday 24th February, a team of 18 pupils proudly represented our school at the Broxtowe Schools Swimming Gala. This annual event is always a highlight of the sporting calendar and one in which BHPS has enjoyed great success over the years.

Preparation began at the start of the Spring Term with a series of trials before the final team was selected. There were certainly a few nerves along the way, but even more excitement! The team included several experienced swimmers who have represented the school in previous years, alongside a number of pupils competing in their first gala. It was wonderful to see our experienced swimmers offering encouragement and support to the newer members of the team.

The children were superb throughout the event. It was a privilege to watch them receive their 1st Place medals — a fantastic achievement. Even more impressive, however, was the collective team performance. Every swimmer contributed valuable points, regardless of their finishing position, meaning that every single race truly mattered. We were particularly proud of the tremendous effort shown in each event, the way pupils listened carefully and followed instructions, the encouragement they gave one another, and their impeccable behaviour throughout the gala.

It was also lovely to see so many parents and family members there to support the team — thank you for your encouragement. Results remain provisional until they are officially verified, and we now await confirmation. This may mean an invitation to compete at the County Final, which usually takes place in May.

The children have already (and quite rightly!) celebrated their success in assembly. A huge well done to the entire team — we are incredibly proud of you all.
