Foundation:
Children began reading Look Up by Nathan Bryon, shared space facts from home and learned about Mae Jemison, the first Black female astronaut in space. They also enjoyed The Colour of Us as part of our Anti-Racist Education Project, exploring how we are the same and different.
Year 1:
In DT, pupils explored sliding mechanisms by making a rabbit pop out of a magician’s hat using carefully cut and assembled parts. They then created moving storybooks inspired by The Storm Whale, using sliders to bring characters to life.
Year 3:
Children continued their Desktop Publishing unit by creating posters about the torches they made from recycled materials. They used Microsoft Word to add images, WordArt titles and change font size and colour to make their work eye-catching.
Year 5:
In gymnastics, pupils used apparatus and ribbons to create performance routines. In science, they planned and tested ways to separate a mixture of materials using appropriate scientific vocabulary.
Year 6:
Pupils welcomed an Islamic faith leader who helped them learn how sacred texts inspire belief, action and wisdom. They discovered key ideas about Islam and how these teachings can guide people to make positive choices.
