Year 3 Weekly Round-Up
It’s been a busy and very warm week in Year 3, but one filled with enthusiasm and excellent learning across the curriculum.
In Science, the children explored muscles and movement, discovering that muscles work in pairs, that they can pull but not push, and how they help our joints to move. The class enjoyed investigating how their own bodies work and building a deeper understanding of how movement happens.
In English, pupils applied their knowledge of direct speech to complete their writing linked to The Tunnel. They showed great progress in using punctuation correctly and bringing their narratives to life.
Our Maths learning focused on 2D shapes, including identifying and understanding parallel and perpendicular lines. The children demonstrated strong reasoning skills when discussing and spotting these features.
In RSE (Jigsaw – Changing Me), the class explored puberty and the changes that happen both inside and outside the body. They approached this topic with maturity, showing thoughtful engagement and respect throughout the discussions and activities. Be prepared for lots of questions for you grown ups at home!
In DT, we had a very successful morning making our seasonal tarts. The children thoroughly enjoyed the practical experience and showed creativity and teamwork in production of their finished product.
Despite the heat, it has been a thoroughly enjoyable and productive week in Year 3. Well done to all the children for their hard work and positive attitudes! We are all very proud of how amazing you have been, despite the heat!
