OFSTED Report

Our school was inspected in January 2026 and was judged to be meeting the Strong Standard in all areas.

It is our pleasure to share the report from OfSTED below. The report is an excellent recognition of the hard work of the team at BHPS. Staff, governors, children and parents deserve great credit for this tremendous achievement.

The senior leadership team and governors received more detailed feedback from the inspection team and some of this is detailed below.

Inspectors reported that:

  • The sense of belonging in school is a strength
  • All children feel represented
  • The school feels like a family
  • School is obviously inclusive in all aspects
  • Children are known well as individuals
  • School is meeting a range of complex needs
  • There is a positive culture of safeguarding
  • Leadership has a direct impact on achievement
  • It was clear that leaders, teachers and all support staff know children well
  • There is a good quality of work in books
  • Phonics teaching is very good
  • EYFS – careful and considered approach
  • There is an adapted curriculum for all learners
  • Needs are identified and met
  • Clear lesson structure which is followed consistently
  • Pedagogy in lessons is sound
  • Outcomes are good across the board
  • There is informed and accurate monitoring of attendance and behaviour
  • Clear and ambitious curriculum which is accessible to all pupils
  • Staff, in general, feel supported with workload and well-being
  • Parent survey overwhelmingly positive
  • Children feel safe and secure
  • There is ambition for every pupil
  • When the outcomes for the inspection were discussed, the QA inspector said that such a positive set of gradings were ‘incredibly rare’
