Curriculum Design

At BHPS we want our children to be inspired and motivated to learn. Year groups plan sequences of lessons which cover the national curriculum requirements progressively – building on prior knowledge and taking into account the needs of our learners (see curriculum statement below). Whilst there is a strong focus on promoting the key skills of literacy and numeracy, our curriculum design allows children to study a wide range of subject areas in order to develop their creative, physical, scientific, artistic, technical, geographical, historical and other key life skills. Components of learning are designed and sequenced  to allow key knowledge to be revisited, enabling practice and consolidation. Personal, social and health education lies at the heart of our curriculum and we aim for our pupils to leave BHPS as responsible, resilient and resourceful citizens who are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills that they need for the next stage in their education.
