First Heat - Broxtowe Sportshall Athletics - 24 Year 5 and 6 children attended the George Spencer heat of the Broxtowe Sportshall Athletics Competition on Tuesday 8th October 2019.
We competed against 5 other local schools (Fairfield, St Johns, Bispham, Eskdale and Chetwynd) in 6 track events and 6 field events.
After a close competition, the results were announced - we came first (with 222 points ahead of Fairfield with 160 points) and have made it through to the district final which is to take place on 21st January 2020.
One member of our team received the Spirit of the Games award for honesty. Well done Eva!
Sportshall Athletics District Final - Again 24 children competed against 5 other schools in the district final. We had a fantastic time and performed brilliantly in the field events winning all but one of the events. When it came to announcing the results we were feeling pretty confident and were pleased to hear that we had come first again, this time with 266 points ahead of Mornington who finished in second place with 172 points. This meant that we were through to the County Finals.
Sportshall Athletics County Final - Friday 7th February 2020 - We were so pleased to have reached the County Final - all the hard work has paid off. We knew it was going to be hard work and the competition would be a lot tougher. We were all very nervous when the results were announced. As they got to third place and our name still hadn't been announced, were were getting very excited. We knew we had got a medal.
Over 200 schools competed in the initial stages with 8 schools getting through to the county finals.
Well done to BHPS who came third in the county and received the bronze medal.
