Creative Art Week 2024

Creative Arts Week - Theme: Unity and Belonging

Our theme for ‘Arts Week’ was designed to enable children to reflect on who we are as individuals and the role that we play in being part of a community. The question ‘Who Am We?’ is grammatically correct in Korean and has been used as a title for a body of work by the Korean sculptor and installation artist, Do Ho Suh. The works examine ‘unique’ and ‘unison’ – our individuality and connectedness.

We wanted children to consider the importance of belonging and recognising the part they play in community. This week was about experiencing a range of different art forms and understanding that creating and experiencing art can give people a sense of belonging. The children considered how many art forms bring people together and that people’s uniqueness and commonality is represented throughout the arts.
