I think I have often described in these blogs how varied the life of the HT can be. This week, however, the challenges provided by the spreading of Coronavirus have provided a new dimension to life at school. We are always making decisions regarding health and safety and managing risks. Most of the time, these risks are known or anticipated. However, this current global threat is obviously new to all and the support from Public Health England (I have called them on three occasions) has been very useful so far.
As one might expect, I take no chances with the wellbeing of pupils and staff and I also have to be mindful not to create hysteria. We are increasing our cleaning regime in school and taking sustainable precautionary measures. I make decisions which are aimed at keeping the whole school safe but have also given close consideration to the more vulnerable members of our school community. These decisions are being reviewed on a daily basis.
