Swimming Gala Success

Bramcote Hills Win Swimming Gala

Firstly, I must apologise for not having blogged for some time.

Today, I was thrilled to take 18 children to compete in the local swimming gala. Over 60 children (out of 180) entered the trials for the team which is tremendous in itself. We have so many children who are swimming at a good standard and were willing to be involved. The final team of 18 competed against teams from 11 other schools and the quality of swimming was most impressive.

Events included freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke and all children took part in an individual race and at least one relay. The relays ranged from the frantic cannon relay (12 swimmers, swimming a length of freestyle) to the woggle relay (two lengths, four swimmers, 1 woggle).

In the end Bramcote Hills scored over 300 points, winning by 20 points. This was a tremendous achievement and every child scored points for the team. I was so proud of the children; they competed with great enthusiasm and won with modesty. It was such an exciting event and the children should be very pleased with themselves. Well done and thank you to parents for your support.
